Helloo! I’m Lynne and I would like to become Southlands President 2021. I’m running in this election because I believe it is time for change in our college and want to represent the student body to ensure our voices are heard.

I want Southlands to be a more united and solid community. Ways I plan to generate this include:

• Creating more events for both on campus and commuting students (both daytime and night events/activities). This includes Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas socials, end of year boat party (just to name a few)
• Networking opportunities (not just Business related) and creating opportunities for commuting students to be more involved on campus
• Listening to the students’ voice and take our complaints/suggestions further (having already previously worked with the RSU, I am someone that gets things done)
• Multicultural events to highlight the diversity here in Southlands. I also want to work with the BAME officers and host events on Southlands
• More activities on Southlands Quad and more games inside The Reef
• Improved accommodation services for on-campus students such as faster response times from maintenance etc
• Keep The Reef opened for longer
• Work with The Business Society and host informative and social events & activities
• Revive the Southlands Sharkettes
• Work with other colleges and collab for events

I mentioned that I previously worked with the RSU, I am dedicated to enriching the student experience and I want the best for Southlands college. I have seen how other colleges host a lot of exclusive events/activities have going on and I want Southlands to follow suit slightly, for example, I want to revive the Southlands Sharkettes team and create some type of sisterhood (this is a majority female university after all) but I’m not just here for the girls! I want the Sharkettes to collab with the Southland Sharks for joint events etc.
