Who am I?

Hi! My name is Karoline, I’m a third-year journalist student and I’m running to be your Digby College Deputy President. As your Deputy President I will enhance
the community spirit for Digby. I want every student from our college to feel included, comfortable and have a sense of belonging. A community to be proud of.

You may recognise me from my various roles around campus, working at The Union Bar, a senior Digby Stuart Flat Rep, or we may have met through the Roebuddies Mentoring sessions I help run with the Roehampton Student Engagement Team.

What will I do?

Are you aware of the Digby chants? Have you felt proud to be part of the Digby community?
Do you want to sing Digby chants and songs from the top of your lungs and have others join
you, even if you do not know them? The change starts with us.

In my experience as a Senior Flat Rep, social event manager for 1500 voluntarily students at the student culture house in Bergen for almost six years, a mentor for the MCL department on Digby as well as being a social, outgoing individual who has attended many College events over the years. I have developed an understanding of how our college community works and what is needed to strengthen it. I believe my knowledge and engagement in Digby make me the ideal candidate for the role of Digby Deputy President.

When elected, I will:

  • Hold a series of events for Digby, involving our students and creating a closer community. Events such as; College holidays dinners, formal balls, College games and post College Cup celebrations.

  • I will develop a sense of College pride and I will do this by organising and running regular college socials every Friday based in Digby, creating a sense of belonging.

  • Work with Digby students to find and recreate new songs for Digby, creating a stronger community.

  • Increase funding for these events by seeking sponsorships so that we sre not paying more than the other colleges to participate and to host events.

  • Strengthen the relationships between Colleges on campus by working with their College teams to deliver events that you would like to see.

  • Create a competitive College team and cheering team for the College Cup events, which will also including practicing and social evenings.

Thank you for reading my manifesto and feel free to contact me to ask any questions about my ideas for Digby’s future. Together we can make a change.
