Experience where it counts
As I’m walking to my 3rd year as a student and a flat rep, I’ve taken the decision to run for President of our college. I feel I still have so much to give back to an organization that’s already given so much to me and I feel I am ready to represent your student voice in leading this dynamic, inspiring, and tenacious organization. This means bringing new innovative ideas to further improve your experience as a Roehampton Student.Throughout this year I’ve developed close relationships with university staff, attended various training opportunities and worked in partnership with officers from other Unions. I believe all these things contribute as to why I should be your next President.
So, what do I want to achieve as President?
1.Welfare Support:
The Covid-19 pandemic negatively affected the psychological prosperity of everybody, it is my expectation to give as much help as could be expected to any individual who needs it through customary weekly drop ins, also I want to set up a mysterious blog where anybody can discuss their issues and gain support through different students.
2. Community and Inclusion:
As the limitations coming on facilitate this year, I would love to run and work for our community soul again and run events that everybody can join in and mess around with: relaxed games, BBQs, movie viewings or even gatherings.
3. Rapid Resolutions:
I am exceptionally mindful of the negatives of living on campus and I wish to resolve anything that happens within and provide the speediest way possible by talking with the staff and groups within our college, whether it'll be accommodation issues, security concerns, fire alarms or common issues. Your standard of living and your happiness is fundamental significance to me, and I will be there to assist in any way possible as I also will be living in Digby.
4. Campaign for Male Mental Health
As president, a huge part of my role will be student welfare. I believe we need to focus energy on our male student population to remove the stigma of mental illness and allow them to be open about their struggles. Every student must feel like they’re integrated into the university life, and make sure their voices are heard at a university level.
5. Create a Look After Your Mate Culture on All Campuses
Alongside the male mental health campaign, I would like to create a wider culture promoting active bystander behaviour against sexual assault and the ‘Look After Your Mate’ program to give students the skills to deal with tricky situations they may encounter.
