What do all people deserve? Equality, being heard and having the finest university experience possible. If I am elected as president of Digby, I would make certain that everyone is heard, cherished, and given equal opportunity to be the best they can be at Roehampton University. My name is Harvey Henson, and I am running to be your next Digby president.
Supporting Diversity
As Digby President, I would continue to work with fellow students and the university to ensure everyone is represented, heard and treated equally. Everyone’s desired university experience is different and based on different factors. As Digby President, I would make it my number one priority to help deliver the best experience possible to every individual.
Safety
On Campus Safety is still a major concern on campus that must be addressed. If elected, I will work directly with all four college teams to regularly assess campus safety measures. I aim to create a student lead safety committee to work closely with staff and students to ensure that everybody feels safe on campus.
Charity
While the current Digby team have done brilliant things to raise money for charity, if elected, I aim to do even more. Working closely with students, I would use the position to run monthly charity campaigns for different charities each month.
Mental Health
If elected, I would love to use my position to work alongside the wellbeing department to advocate for mental health awareness. I am passionate about creating awareness and supporting those who suffer from mental health issues and would carry on the great work the current college team has done.
Strengthening the College Team
There is no dispute that Digby has lost its sense of community; I feel the core of this is where the foundations have cracked over the pandemic. Together, we can begin to rebuild the famed Digby spirit by reinforcing the foundations of the college team.
Events
I could write a thorough list of events I would plan to run to win your vote, however this is not viable. Without first strengthening the foundations of the college this is unrealistic. However, my promise to everyone is that if elected I will try my absolute best to build up these foundations and run events that are inclusive for everyone.
While this list may only be a few of the important things I would aim to achieve if elected, my promise is that I will give everything I can to ensure that every student is equal, heard and represented in every aspect.
