Hello my name is Katherine Birditt (call me Katie)

I am running for Whitelands President 

I am running because I want to to play a part in student life on campus and have a positive impact on it so that all students feel safe and enjoy their time on campus. 

I have been at Roehampton for two years and experiences which I could use to benefit

I have previously been involved with Roehampton Students’ Union indirectly through my different jobs as a student ambassador.

Key Campaign Points:

If elected I will campaign on the Following things:

1. Campaign Point 1  - campaign for improved  safety 

This issue is important because feeing secure in the place that you live is something everyone should feel. Whitelands is slightly further from main campus so the issue of safety is important. 

  I will achieve the aim of this by bringing it to board meetings where  possible options to fund more security can be discussed .  If money is needed fundraisers could be organised to help raise this money.

2. Campaign Point 2 is to bring the sette bar back to life  

This issue is important because this area is an important hub of social life, which is a key  aspect of being a University  student

I will achieve  this through discussions with the head of Whitelands and other relevant members responsible for the management of student life and activities. I would aim to perhaps have some fun events, like competitive beer pong or snooker tournaments, and perhaps have DJs come

3. Campaign Point 3 is to promote cultural awareness and inclusion 

This  issue is important because as an institution with so many international students, we should be taking the time to learn more about the different cultures on campus  

 I will achieve the aim of this through weekly or monthly evenings organised in collaboration with different international students.

It would ideally involve eating traditional food from the particular culture, as well as some interesting facts and a presentation by a student or group of student that they feel related to a theme that’s important to them.
