Introduction:
Hello my name is Adam Doughaili. I am a second-year Human Resource Management student, who is running to be your next Southlands College Deputy President. As your Southlands Deputy I will help make Southlands College more inclusive to commuting and residing campus students. I want Southlands to be ‘Open, Welcoming and Fun’ to be around. When I joined Roehampton it was during the height of the pandemic, which restricted the most part of our university life, but since gaining back our freedoms I vow to make this coming year one to remember!
I have had experience within student government and customer service. I have developed my leadership and communication skills through recent roles, currently working with the NHS vaccination programme and Track and Trace roll out. I have been there to help when my country needed me, now is the time for me to be there for my College and University.
As your Deputy President for Southlands, I will look into all concerns and issues raised and will focus on solutions.
What will I do:
Promoting events that include commuting and residing students.
Introduce social trips around London, UK and abroad.
Creating movie and sports events to watch on the projector at the Reef, with a permanent secured laptop for ALL students to use.
Extend the hours of the café and diner.
Increase the variety and quality of food provided in the Reef.
Create more inclusive options for students with dietary requirements.
Liaise with accommodation to make sure flats are safe and clean prior to student arrival.
Maximising prompt completion of maintenance requests.
Minimising the number of maintenance jobs at the start of each semester.
Repair and strengthen the communication between security and students.
Improve the quality and quantity of security on-campus.
Convene regular meetings with the security team to make sure everyone is treated equally.
Work to provide 24hr study spaces on Southlands College and liaise with other officers to extend library opening hours, during non-deadline season.
Work with departmental staff to recognise student achievements whether it be within university or the local community.
Coordinate with Southlands and other campus officers. For example, Chaplaincy, Wellbeing Team and CCL’s.
More signposting for multi-faith prayer rooms located around campus.
Areas where students relax, study and socialise.
Modernisation and improvement of Southlands College kitchen, so students have use of the fridges and storage lockers provided.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto, please feel free to contact me via email or social media about any questions you may have and hope that I can count on your support!
