Drawing on my experiences as a mature, international, commuting student, I pledge to work with the RSU and all students to foster a sense of belonging and build a safe place for all.
Hello my name is Leslie Schipa and I am running for VP Community of Wellbeing
As a Mature, International, Commuting Student, I know how challenging it can be to feel like you belong at in a new environment. Far away from my family and friends, I recognise the importance of programmes and events that connect us and help foster a sense of belonging for all students. Together, we will build the community we are longing to be a part of. As a member of the RSU, I pledge to do all in my power to support and encourage these connections through the development of programmes and events that bring us together.
In my time as a Community Development Officer, I have worked with organisations to create programmes which encourage connection and participation from diverse groups. As a professional musician and actor, I understand the importance of working as part of a team to create something greater than the sum of its parts. I will use these skills and experiences to support the students and my colleagues in the RSU to build on the great work the RSU has started, especially during the lockdown, to keep the Roehampton community connected. I will support the continuation of existing programmes, such as Mental Health First Aid Certification and Consent Matters, which help build a safe environment for all.
I look forward to serving the students of the University of Roehampton. Together, we can build the world we want.
Please take the time to vote for all your student representatives.
