Hi! Im Theviya, a queer south Asian student at roehampton university! For the past 2 years I have been lgbt officer and hosted queeraokes last year so there's a social events on campus.
I attended the NUS conference last year and they were very much advocating more diversity within spaces of decision. I was able to learn about how other universities navigated their spaces and how they make students feel safe.
I was able to attend the lgbt, women's, black others and disability talks due to all of these areas being significant in my life. I was able to understand what funds and programs universities had put in place.
I would love to meet up with some of the people that went last year and be able to discuss how their university has developed without feeling fearful of sharing ideas.
As this is my final year at the university, I would like the opportunity to discover what new events and policies other universities have implemented. This includes finding out how other SUs are utilising their local communities and charities.
