I’m a bystander but I won’t stand by without doing what I can for a better digby and a better Roehampton!
Dear Digby students it is a privilege to be able to run for your Digby vice president. I have been a student on Digby campus for the past 2 years going on 3 and as such have experienced all that Digby has to offer. A place that feels like a home away from home for many, including myself. However, since being a flat rep for the past year I now understand even more what the Digby community wants and needs. Some issues that would be a priority for me should I be elected are increasing safety around campus, improving the communication from the university whilst also being a reliable person that everyone can talk to.
Expanding on what our President Riley done, I would continue the mission of getting more lighting around campus to improve safety around campus. As a bystander and a flat rep, I know how important it is to be and feel safe when walking around campus. If we want campus to feel like home, we have to feel safe walking round it. Having spoken to students and also from my own experience there are still feelings of not being safe around campus, as Digby president this is something I want to improve.
Additionally, if elected I will help bring your voice to the for front. As a bystander, the most important part of our job is listening to and acting on what students tell us. When elected as your Digby vice president it would be incredibly important that the voices of the Digby students are elevated. For Digby to be the best it can be it is imperative that the voices of Digby are heard and respected, as your Digby vice president I will make sure it is heard.
Furthermore, I will help improve the communication between the university and the students. If I am elected as president there will be more consistent and precise communication, no more wondering when maintenance will come round to fix something, there will exact deadlines given, what’s more, I will make sure I am personally available to be communicated with so that students can have their issues talked about, heard and know that they will be put into action.
