Don’t be strange, Engage for change!
Do you want to be heard, valued and related to? Look no further. Hi, I am Aryan Assad and I am running to be your next Digby Deputy president.
As someone who enjoys helping and listening to others, I aim to bring unity to our community, making sure everyone of our students is heard. You are what makes our university, and I want everyone to have a say.
As a current Senior Student Ambassador, I always want to make sure everyone is vibing and enjoying their time in our university. Let that be our current students, or future students who will join us later down the line. I want to continue that as your deputy president ensuring positivity is spread everywhere.
Your voices are important to me and matter. I asked students which areas they feel needs changing the most and these were the most common responses:
Although we have a range of services to support us, you may feel unheard or do not receive a response regarding your issues.
- I want to establish a better communication plan between students, presidents and staff members to ensure student voices are heard.
- I want to work alongside the team to bring a better plan for the Roehampton Bus as this is a luxury that we should all enjoy with no complaints. That will include: better routes, better timings and a more improved Roehampton bus.
- This is important to me as I want to create that bond with staff members to show that us students are the ones that make up the university and should be valued.
I aim to work alongside Our Digby president, Luke, and events team to ensure that there are events for everyone.
- As an off campus student myself, I understand that sometimes it feels like you’re not making the most of your university life and so I aim to bring more diverse, fun and inclusive events for everyone to enjoy and be a part of.
- Our community is growing and I want to use your feedback to bring and develop the most enjoyable events, creating forever memories.
After recent and previous events, I am astounded by the lack of safety and support in our university and want to make sure all of your worries and problems are heard and respected.
- This will be a large priority of mine as Roehampton is supposed to feel like your home, regardless of if you are an on or off- campus student. You should feel safe anywhere on campus with no fear whatsoever, so I promise to communicate your issues and worries.
I want to accentuate that I want to bring positive change to our university and if I am elected, I promise to make sure all of your voices are heard and a response or solution be provided to you. There are many great things about our university, but your engagement is important and can bring better change.
