Manifesto for Vice President of Wellbeing
By Shirsha Bhowmick, MSc Clinical Neuroscience
Hey everyone! I’m Shirsha Bhowmick, an MSc Clinical Neuroscience student at the University of Roehampton from India, and I’m running to be your Vice President of Wellbeing! A quick introduction about myself, I initially started with Biotechnology, but my hidden neurodivergence inspired me to study Neuroscience and hence I am here. I engaged in teaching nursery kids for a while and was also proudly elected as the student representative for two years in a row at my former university.
As an international student who has faced challenges firsthand, I understand the struggles, whether it’s mental health, adjusting to a new place, or just needing a support system, I aim to help everyone wholeheartedly.
Here’s what I’ll do for YOU:
Prioritize Mental Health – Make support easily accessible, ensure every student feels heard, and create safe spaces for open conversations by conducting affinity-based intimate gatherings where students can share their experiences, engage in fun activities, or connect with others over a cup of tea.
Support International & Boarding Students – Help with accommodation concerns, cultural adjustments, and safety issues by conducting onboarding and support based online workshops and ensuring the right support, so that no one feels lost or left behind.
Build an Inclusive & Fun Community – From yoga and meditations to potlucks, tours, sports events, and if possible even an annual mega carnival, let’s make university life exciting and memorable for everyone!
Fun facts about me!
I’m a professional classical dancer and a budding scientist.
I once ran a small business and achieved maximum profits with zero investment.
I love cooking and sharing food, so expect lots of food-centered community events!
I believe well-being is a right, not a luxury. Let’s build a happier, healthier, and more inclusive community together!
Vote for me & let’s make well-being a priority!
