Divanshi Sharma for Digby Stuart President: Let’s Build a College That Feels Like Home!

Introduction

Hi, I’m Divanshi, a second-year international nursing student at the University of Roehampton. I’m running for Digby Stuart President because I believe our college can be a place where every student feels at home, supported, and empowered. My goal is to create an inclusive, vibrant, and thriving community where your voice matters and your experience is enriched.

As a Programme Representative and Student Ambassador, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with students, advocating for their needs, and contributing to positive changes on campus. My participation in the #150 Leaders program by the Council of Deans of Health has also equipped me with leadership skills and a drive for meaningful change. I’m ready to bring this experience to serve you and make Digby Stuart College an even better place for all of us.

My Vision

Based on your feedback from the RSU Big Survey and Speak Week, I have identified 3 key areas to focus on:

1. A Cost-Effective Campus

• Community Pantry and Donation Drives: I will support the RSU Community Pantry to ensure affordable essentials are accessible.
• On-Campus Job Opportunities: I will work with the Careers Team and Digby Stuart college team to promote student jobs and internships, giving you the chance to earn while you learn.
• Affordable Living Resources: By collaborating with the university, I’ll raise awareness of financial aid programs and provide guidance through workshops on managing finances ethically and effectively.

2. Ensuring Value for Money in Education

• Transparent Feedback Loops: I will set up regular drop-ins and surveys to gather student feedback, ensuring transparency by sharing updates via social media and a dedicated feedback board. You’ll always know how your voice is making a difference.
• Support Programs: I will advocate for Roe Buddies which is a peer support initiative and AGT support, offering mentoring and academic support to help students thrive both socially and academically.

3. Enriching the College Experience

• Monthly Events Calendar: I will collaborate with the RSU and college teams to create a monthly events calendar, promoted through social media and digital platforms, so you never miss opportunities like Creativity Corner, informal meals, or group trips.
• Regular Socials: To build community, I will organize “Tea & Talk” sessions where students can connect informally and share ideas in a relaxed setting and explore reintroducing creativity corner.
• Cultural and Collaborative Events: I aim to introduce new initiatives like a Cultural Food Festival, and movie nights to bring students together and celebrate our diversity.

I’m running because I care deeply about our college community and believe in creating a space where everyone feels heard and supported. Together, we can foster a culture of inclusivity, empowerment, and growth at Digby Stuart College.
