"Your Voice, My Drive – Together, We Rise!" Vote for Stephen Charles, Vice President (Welfare)

Hello everyone, I am Stephen Charles, and I am running for the position of Welfare Vice President because I believe in the power of every student’s voice and the importance of a supportive, inclusive, and vibrant campus environment. As your Welfare VP, I will work to ensure that every student’s wellbeing is prioritized, and that the University provides a welcoming and safe space for all.

Why Vote for Me? - Your Voice, My Priority

I believe every student’s voice matters, and I will work tirelessly to ensure your concerns and ideas are not only heard but acted upon. Whether it’s through surveys, open forums, or one-on-one discussions, I will prioritize gathering feedback from students and student representatives to understand your needs and advocate for meaningful change.

Below are my commitments to improving student welfare, based on student feedback.

1. Strengthening Mental Health Support

Increased Availability of Counseling Services
I will advocate for more counselors to reduce waiting times for mental health support, ensuring that no student has to wait too long to get the help they need.

2. Peer-Led Support Groups
I will create and promote peer-led support groups to provide a safe space for students to share experiences, reduce stigma, and offer mutual support.

3. Awareness Campaigns

I will lead regular campaigns, through emails, social media, and Union events, to promote the resources and support services available to all students, ensuring no one feels isolated or unaware of where to seek help.

4. Drop-In Welfare Clinics

I will host weekly drop-in welfare clinics, where students can confidentially discuss concerns with welfare officers and get immediate support.

5. Financial Literacy Workshops

I will advocate for and organize workshops focused on financial literacy, helping students manage their finances, budget effectively, and understand student loans.

6. Increased Access to Hardship Funds

I will push for an increase in access to emergency financial assistance, ensuring that students facing unexpected financial difficulties are supported promptly.

7. Affordable Campus Options

I will work towards securing more affordable food, and accommodation options making student life more manageable and reducing financial stress.

8. Cultural and Inclusivity Events

I will organize events that celebrate cultural diversity, identity, and inclusivity, ensuring that every student feels represented and valued on campus.

9. Safe Transport for Students

I will advocate for affordable and reliable late-night transport services for students, ensuring they can safely return home after evening events.

10. Community Engagement

I will advocate for increased collaboration with local authorities to improve safety, wellbeing, and resources for Roehampton students both on and off-campus.

As your Welfare Vice President, I will work tirelessly to create an environment where every student feels supported, heard, and empowered. I am committed to making Roehampton a place where all students can thrive. Your voice, your wellbeing, and your future will always be my priority.

Vote Stephen Charles for Welfare Vice President, and let's make it happen!
