Hello everyone,
My name is Laxmi, and I am running for the position of Deputy President of Digby Stuart College. I am passionate about representing the diverse voices of our college community and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive, feel valued, and succeed during their time here.
Why I'm Standing
As a student, I understand the challenges we face daily academically, socially, and personally. Whether it's managing the pressures of university life, navigating accommodation concerns, or finding inclusive spaces to express ourselves, these experiences have shown me the importance of strong representation. As Deputy President, I will ensure your voices are heard, your concerns are addressed, and meaningful actions are taken to improve student life at Digby Stuart.
My Vision
My vision is to create a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic community within Digby Stuart College where every student feels empowered to make the most of their university experience. My priorities focus on four key areas:
1. Student Well-being
Student well-being is the foundation of success. I will:
1. Campaign for enhanced mental health support, including increased access to counselling services and well-being workshops.
2. Introduce initiatives that promote physical and mental wellness, such as mindfulness sessions, fitness classes, and peer-support groups.
3. Create safe spaces where students can relax, connect, and recharge.
2. Inclusivity and Diversity
Our college is home to a diverse community, and every student deserves to feel welcomed and included. I will:
1. Advocate for events and initiatives that celebrate cultural diversity and foster mutual respect.
2. Ensure underrepresented groups have a voice in college decisions by establishing regular feedback forums.
3. Work to make our campus more accessible to students with disabilities.
3. Academic and Career Support
I want to help students excel academically and prepare for their futures. I will:
1. Collaborate with academic staff to improve access to study resources and support services.
2. Organise career workshops, networking events, and mentoring programmes tailored to your needs.
3. Address concerns around timetables, feedback, and academic workload.

A strong community is built on connection and collaboration. I will:
1. Organise more social events, sports, and cultural activities to strengthen bonds within our college.
2. Introduce drop-in sessions and surveys to ensure your ideas and concerns are heard and acted upon.
3. Encourage greater participation in college events and initiatives to make them truly reflective of your interests.
