Making campus matter, because its more than a degree.
Hey everyone, I'm Olasupo Kolade, and I'm running to be your RSU President because I believe the university should be more than just lectures and deadlines. Roehampton should be a place where we connect, grow, and create unforgettable experiences and memories. I am committed to fostering an inclusive, dynamic and activity driven environment, where students support one another and engage beyond academics.
I aim to shift the campus culture through active participation:
1. Have an engaging campus grounds where student collaboration will be encouraged, through student/society led fairs. e.g yard sales, academic support hangout, peer networking and leadership development.
2. Another thing I would like to improve on is the societies on campus. At the moment societies struggle due to lack of leadership continuity and engagement. I would be revamping the leadership of societies to ensure that they are run by passionate leaders who would sustain their society even after they leave. I would introduce mentorship programmes to equip society leaders to better understand their role and create a connection between previous and existing leaders. In addition, I would encourage, larger and more impactful events using cross-society collaboration.
3.To bridge the gap between students and extracurricular opportunities, I would be proposing community leader roles - student representatives who are approachable, knowledgeable and committed to assisting fellow students. These community leaders would be easily accessible across campus to assist students with anything they need. They can assist in networking between pairs and helping students find opportunities as well as guiding students towards interesting societies.
4.I would be setting up unique, once in a lifetime travel experiences where students across all colleges come together to make lifelong friends rather than just acquaintances. It would be an opportunity to learn, have fun and create lasting memories. This would be a unique experience, because instead of just sightseeing, there would be activities designed for personal growth and reflection, such as: group discussions, meditation sessions, nature walks, shared meals and dedicated time for individual reflection. All this in a beautiful location away from everyday life and responsibilities.
If elected, I would ensure university life is more than just academics, I would create a community where students feel valued, engaged and inspired into participation. I know with this role comes accountability. I am open to been approached and questioned about anything that you feel needs more work.
I'd love your support - Lets Make Campus Matter
Vote Olasupo Kolade for RSU President.
