There’s no ‘I’(rene) in team, but there is an ‘I’ in Roehampton Students’ UnIon. 

As your current VP of Education at The RSU, I believe in the power of collaboration and teamwork. I could tell you about my personal wins to convince you to vote for me, but I rather tell you about what our team has won as a collective; a collective of expertise, knowledge, diverse skillsets, incomparable work ethic, drive, and passion – a collective that is deserving of another year of doing what they do best.  

2024 – 2025 Wins  

1. Delivered a Freshers Festival with 14+ events with 3000+ attendees across the week.  
2. Kept Wednesday Afternoons free For all undergraduate students (K.W.A.F).  
3. Implemented Wellbeing Wednesdays’.  
4. Hosted welcome activities for all six of our intakes. 
5. Provided new placement opportunities for the School of Education. 
6. Provided free in person and online resources for students with E.A.L.  
7. Secured optional on campus accommodation for all future sabbatical officers. 
8. Provided part-time jobs to 15+ Roehampton Students through the RSU.  
9. Became a BeWell Organisation (and a BeWell Leader).  
10. Contributed the student perspective to the NHS 10-year Strategic Plan. 
11. Represented students in 40+ Committees, ensuring the student voice is always heard.  
12. Advocated for living wages, affordable housing, and better access to mental health services through Citizens UK 
13. Started nine different Student Networks for students to connect to like-minded people.  
14. Supported 33+ active societies with over 1440+ members.  
15. Provided 50+ free practical workshops and courses via internal and external partnerships. 
16. Implemented an entirely new and reworked Student Academic Representation System.  
17. Supported students through 200+ academic appeals and personal cases.  
18. Hosted 15+ Student Voice Forums and Education Forums.  
19. Provided 500+ items from the Community Pantry to our students.   
20. Raised £2,115 and hosted a 12-hour Walkathon for Movember 

..... and so much more!!! 

Now would you believe if I did that all alone? Well, I didn’t, our dedicated team at the RSU, university colleagues, and our partners have collaborated to make this all happen.  

Now, if given the opportunity of reelection as your VP of Education, I promise to deliver but bigger & better!  

2025 – 2026 Objectives  

(Alongside everything I already do in the job description😉)  

1. Shape the Staff Summit: Implement a comprehensive training programme for all University of Roehampton faculty, incorporating the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence's R.U.L.E.R Approach and Cultural Sensitivity Awareness training, using anonymised student experiences, to enhance emotional intelligence and cultural competence, with the aim of creating a more inclusive and accepting community.  

2. Reimagining Roehampton: This project aims to unite the Roehampton community through a collaborative effort involving internal university departments, external partners, and local organisations. The goal is to comprehensively transform the university and local community environment through collaborative, student-led initiatives that enhance wellbeing, cultivate community engagement, and create sustainable, inspiring spaces that bring us all together (while providing student jobs)
