Serving with Integrity, Leading with Purpose

Dear Fellow Students,

My name is Imran Shafiqi, and I am honored to nominate myself for re-election as your RSU President. Over the past year, I have worked tirelessly to amplify your voices, drive positive change, and ensure that every student feels heard and supported. However, my mission is not yet complete.

With one year of experience in this role, I no longer require extensive training or time to familiarize myself with the Students’ Union and University processes. This means I can hit the ground running from day one, delivering real change from the very beginning.

What I Have Achieved So Far:

Green Week – Successfully hosted 10 sustainable events and activities to promote environmental awareness and action.
Leading Refreshers – Organized a variety of engaging events and a Refreshers Fair featuring 45 stalls to welcome students.
Part-Time Job Fair – Fulfilled my promise to help students find employment by collaborating with the Student Futures Team to host a successful job fair.
Representation in 30+ Committees – Consistently advocated for student concerns and interests across more than 30 university committees.
Host of the Vice-Chancellor Awards – Had the privilege of hosting one of the most prestigious university events.

My Vision for the Future:

1: 24/7 Study Spaces & Extended Library Hours
We all study differently—some of us are night owls, while others need quiet spaces at odd hours. I will campaign for 24/7 access to study spaces and extended library hours, ensuring you have the resources you need when you need them.

2: Free Transport for Students
The cost of transportation is a significant burden for many students. We are already actively campaigning for this, and with support from other London universities, we will push harder than ever to secure free or heavily subsidized transport options for our students.

3: More Student Jobs on Campus
Many students struggle financially while balancing studies and work. I will work with the university to create more part-time job opportunities on campus, making employment more accessible, fair, and flexible for students.

4: The Unity Hub – Building a True Student Community
I want to create a unified, all-inclusive hub where students can come together to eat, read, write, exercise, explore, and learn from one another. A space where we embrace diversity, form lifelong friendships, and become the best versions of ourselves. Learning happens when we engage, and this society will be a catalyst for growth, connection, and empowerment.

Why Vote for Me?

Proven Leadership & Experience – I have already been your President, and I know exactly how to make things happen.
A Track Record of Delivering Results – From Green Week to job fairs, I have already delivered real, tangible outcomes for students.
A Leader Who Listens – I have always been approachable, responsive, and committed to representing your voices at every level.

This is our Students’ Union. This is our time to shape the future. Together, we can make this year even better.
