"Empowering Minds, Bridging Gaps, Shaping Futures – Be Smart, Vote Samagra!"
Hello Roehampton Students!
My name is Samagra Gour, and I am a postgraduate student studying Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management. As a Student Ambassador and Treasurer of the Roehampton Desi Society, I have actively contributed to enhancing student life on campus. Now, I am excited to take the next step by running to be your VP of Education.
The Students' Union has significantly shaped my experience at Roehampton, from offering platforms for student engagement to providing unwavering support in times of need. Inspired by the union's positive impact and my passion for continuous improvement, I am eager to represent and advocate for you. I aim to build on the incredible work of current representatives while introducing new initiatives that reflect your needs and aspirations.
If Elected as Your VP of Education, I Aim To:
1) Bridging the Gap Between Theory and Practice
Education should not stop at the classroom door. I will advocate for more internships, co-op programs, and hands-on learning opportunities that connect students with real-world experiences in their fields. Leveraging my project management and operational efficiency background, I will work to strengthen partnerships with industries and organizations, helping students apply their knowledge in meaningful, practical ways.
2) Promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing in Education
Academic success is closely related to mental health. I will champion initiatives that reduce unnecessary academic stress, promote healthy study habits, and integrate mental health support into our educational framework. This includes advocating for flexible deadlines, reasonable workloads, and enhanced access to counselling services to ensure every student thrives.
3) Post-Graduation Support
Transitioning into the workforce can be challenging. To empower students as they transition from university to their professional lives, I will organize workshops focused on graduate (PSW) visa applications, job applications, CV writing, and essential career skills. My own experience navigating career opportunities will inform these initiatives, ensuring they are practical and effective.
4) TED-like Talks and Speaker Series
Knowledge is not limited to textbooks. I will initiate TED-like talks, inviting speakers from diverse fields to share their insights on careers, personal development, and industry trends. These events will inspire, educate, and connect students with new ideas and professional networks.
5) No Idea Left Behind
Often, elections bring forth brilliant ideas from candidates that, unfortunately, get forgotten once the voting ends. I will collaborate with other candidates to implement their innovative proposals if elected. I will create a system where students vote on the ideas they want to see realized, ensuring that no valuable contribution goes to waste. Together, we can foster a dynamic and inclusive academic environment.
Why Vote for Me?
With a strong background in leadership, project management, and student engagement, I am committed to representing your voice and enhancing the academic experience for all. My goal is to create an inclusive, supportive, and forward-thinking educational environment where every student can succeed.
Be Smart, Vote for Samagra!
