Hey there !

I’m Alicia and I am running for Pole Fit Vice-President. I am currently in 2nd year and have been a part of the Pole Fit Society all year. Pole fitness has always interested me and it was something I’ve always wanted to try at least once. It’s not your typical sport or fitness activity but it’s definitely the one I've enjoyed the most.

I believe there’re lots of things I could do to make the society even better than it already is. As there’re probably going to be a couple of manifestos for you guys to get through, I will break mine down and make it as short and concise as possible.

WHAT I AIM TO ACHIEVE

PERFORMANCES

Currently there are very few opportunities to show off what everyone has learnt in class. So I aim to…

  • Hold a showcase at the end of each term so every member, if they choose to, can show off what they’ve learnt during the pole classes.

  • Organise small and friendly competitions with other universities. We could contact individual universities and compete/showcase our skills at the end of every term (or just to have fun and meet new people who also love pole!)

DIFFERENT LEVELS

Some girls I’ve seen during pole sessions are amazing and should have different levels offered to them.

  • Instead of a ‘one class fits all’ session, I would like to split people with different abilities into different classes. So beginners don’t feel like they are behind and oldcomers can advance to harder spins and moves.

WEEKLY PRACTICE

This year I know a lot of people have struggled to attend the Monday and Tuesday classes. I, therefore, am aiming to offer a class on Monday, as usual, and a class later in the week where we can all practice what we've learnt on Monday and boost our overall fitness level.

SOCIALS

It’s hard for members to meet all other members during pole sessions while watching and practicing the moves, therefore I would like to try and organise...

  • A Christmas dinner so everyone that has been attending the first term of pole classes can sit and have a chat over a meal, like one big pole dancing family!

  • A Summer social for everyone that has been with us all year and anyone who has joined us for the spring term

  • Weekly Socials, we would hold a vote in order to offer socials that most people will enjoy.

CUSTOMISED CLOTHING

I want to create a range of society hoodies, shorts and tops so that everyone can show off their love of pole fitness!

They’re just some of the things I hope to achieve if I am voted as the Vice-President. Fundamentally, I would like to offer support to every member of the society and simply carry on the great work from this year and continue making Pole Fitness Society something to be proud of!
