Wellbeing Wednesdays

Every Wednesday, from 13:00 onwards, you will have a guaranteed break from all mandatory academic activities. That is right - no lectures, no seminars, no compulsory labs. It’s Just pure free time for you to focus on what matters most - your wellbeing!

Imagine hitting that midweek slump and knowing you have a dedicated afternoon to reset, recharge, and reconnect. Whether you are looking to sweat it out on the sports field, get creative with a society, or relax at a wellbeing workshop, Wellbeing Wednesdays have got you covered!

Additionally, as many sports students are aware, mandatory lectures taking place on Wednesday afternoons prohibit you from attending away fixtures – with no mandatory academic commitments on Wednesdays this means you will not only be able to attend your fixtures, but your teams will be able to grow as more international students will have the opportunity to get involved!

This campaign is occurring throughout the entire campus and extends into the surrounding areas, particularly within the Wandsworth Council region. The proximity of these events to the campus is significant, emphasising their relevance to students taking charge of their mental health.

Who can take part in Wellbeing Wednesdays?

A simple answer, everyone. All undergraduate students have lectures off from 1pm. we are working with the timetabling team. to ensure this is kept through even past this year and carries on throughout your time at Roehampton.

When does this happen?

Another simple answer really, every Wednesday after 13:00

How we're helping you

Securing Change

We heard from students that they felt unable to take part in sports and other social activity on Wednesday afternoons due to timetabling clashes. This is particularly acute for international students who have visa conditions regarding attendance figures which means missing a lecture to play sport is simply not possible - nor is it for anyone without those conditions!

Your Full-Time Sabbatical Officers worked with the University to ensure that a policy to keep Wednesday afternoons free for sport and wellbeing events was in place. This was confirmed at the start of the 2024/25 academic year, and timetabled worked to move the majority of classes to secure this.

There is still more work to do here though and we're aware some clashes still exist. Your officers will continue to work closely with the University to work towards solutions for those students currently timetabled on Wednesday afternoons.

Free Wellbeing Events

Your Full-Time Sabbatical Officers have worked closely with colleagues across the University to curate a programme of free wellbeing events every Wednesday throughout term-time.

This has included weekly drop-ins where you can chat to a sabb, autism awareness workshops, volunteering sessions and loads more. All targeted at improving your mental and physical health.
